Prepare for a three-day walking holiday along Djursland's blooming meadows, chalky white beaches, steep cliffs and idyllic forests that invite reflection, enjoyment and a dip in the calm waters of the Kattegat.
The daily losses are 12—20 kilometers, so you have plenty of time to enjoy nature, packed lunches and the many experiences along the way.

The route:
DAY 1
RUGAARD BEACH - GRENAA
We will meet in Bønnerup at 8.30, where you park your cars for free. We say welcome and if you have any questions, we can take them during the bus ride to Rugaard Strand, where your walk begins.
Around 9 a.m., the first day's hike begins from Rugaard Strand towards Grenaa, where after about 19 km you will spend the night at the beautiful, authentic and newly renovated Badehotell Grenaa Strand. We transport your luggage, so it is clear when you arrive at Badehotell Grenaa Strand.
The stretch from Rugaard Strand to Grenaa offers beautiful beach meadows, sand and pebble beaches and most of the trip views to the cliffs of the Sea Knot and the surrounding forests. If you are lucky enough to see playful porpoises in the water or sea eagles that stop at Stubbe Lake and frolic along the shore.
Most of the trip takes place on the trail system along the coast, but at the sea node there is an opportunity to hike up and away from the pebble beach and from the cliff and get a nice view over the beautiful turquoise sea of the Kattegat. From here you can hike in the forest, which borders the beach.
A packed lunch is included in the price of the accommodation at Badehotell Grenaa Strand.
DAY 2
GRENAA - GERBIL
Suitcases must be ready for pickup by 9 a.m.
The trip continues north towards Gjerrild with the direction towards Fornæs Fyr via Ålebugten. A beautiful walk with the sea to your right and hilly hilly terrain to your left. From Fornæs Lighthouse, the beautiful walk continues over a flat meadow, and as you approach Sangstrup Klint, follow the road to the left, where you come to an asphalt road. Here you follow the signage leading to Karlby Klint.
At Sangstrup Klint it is possible to depart from Djurslandsstien and follow the tractor tracks on top of the cliff, from where there is a nice view of the coast.
From Karlby Klint follows a smaller and somewhat difficult section with stones, after which the rest of the trip to Gjerrild is easy and comfortable. You arrive at Bygaden in Gjerrild, where the inn is located on the left approximately in the middle of the main street.
Your luggage will be ready at the inn upon arrival.
DAY 3
GJERRILD - BEAN SOUP
Suitcases must be ready for collection at 9 a.m.
From Gjerrild Kro we hike to Bønnerup. Your luggage is ready for you at Restaurant Kajkanten, Ny Havnevej 23, 8585 Glesborg. A walk of about 12 km. At Kajkanten there is an opportunity to have a good lunch before the trip home.
From Gjerrild Kro go off the main street on the left towards Gjerrild Camping. Follow the asphalt road all the way to Gjerrild Strand. There is a bike path and path until you are at the edge of the forest and the rest of the way to the beach. Most of the play for
The beach is surrounded by a beautiful old mixed forest. When you reach the coast follow the marked path to the left towards Bønnerup. A nice hike with sea on one side and forest and slopes on the other.
When you arrive at Bønnerup Harbour and have found Restaurant Kajkanten, where your luggage is, there is an opportunity for a nice lunch before the trip home.
OBS. The seaside hotel's evening restaurant is closed for dining. Guests are welcome to eat picked or brought food in the restaurant and order drinks at the bar. Several dining options are all within a short distance of the Badehotell Grenaa Strand and even more choices in Grenaa town 3 km from the hotel.
Gjerrild Kro does not offer a la carte on Fridays, but only buffet.
PACKING LIST FOR HIKING
Swab patch, water bottle, extra socks in the hiking backpack, travel towel if you want to bathe on the walk along the beach, packed lunch or food for the trip, snacks, sunscreen, a good hat and light rainwear if the weather is bad.
BAGGAGE TRANSPORT
Your suitcase/luggage that you do not want to carry will be picked up at both hotels at 9 am, where they must be ready for transport.
Each person is allowed to carry 1 piece of luggage of max. 15 kg

FOOD ON THE ROUTE
Remember that you must bring your own packed lunches and snacks for the first day hike and also if you want anything else besides breakfast at the hotel on the third day of the hike. On the second day you will receive a packed lunch delivered by Badehotell Grenaa Strand. You should bring a bottle of water with you every day.

ROUTE
DAY 1: RUGAARD BEACH - GRENAA
Please use the restrooms before we meet. It's the red building after the ice house/barbecue bar.
We meet in Bønnerup at 8.30 am, where you park your cars in the parking lot at Bønnerup harbour behind restaurant Kejser. The cars will stay free of charge until you return on the day of the trip.
It is important that you are accurate so we can get away with you all. The drive to Rugaard takes about 40 minutes.
When driving on Ny Havnevej at Bønnerup Havn, turn right just after passing restaurant Kejser, the parking space is behind the restaurant.
We will be told welcome at 8.30 am, and if you have any questions, we can take them during the drive to Rugaard Strand, where your walk begins.
Around 9:15am the first day's hike begins from Rugaard Strand towards Grenaa, where after about 19 km you will spend the night at the beautiful, authentic and newly renovated Badehotell Grenaa Strand.
You can check in at Badehotell Grenaa Strand from 15:00.

From Grenaa, the tour continues to Gjerrild along the north coast - a trip of about 21 km. At Gjerrrild Kro, another authentic and delicious experience awaits you with good traditional chrome food, a warm bath and a clean and soft bed.

You leave Grenaa heading towards Fornæs Fyr, Karlby Klint, Sangstrup Klint and on to Gjerrild. A beautiful walk with the sea to your right and hilly hilly terrain as well as meadows to your left.
From Badehotell Grenaa Strand you go north by the road past Grenaa Industrial Harbour, which you have on your right. Continue until you reach a roundabout 2 km from the beach hotel. Yesterday straight through the roundabout, and about 100 meters further along the asphalt road, a road goes in right down towards the water and the bay of Eel.
At the bottom of the asphalt road, a dirt road enters on the left, which leads you down to Ålebugt and on to the path on the beach meadow towards Fornæs Fyr. Here awaits a beautiful walk with the sea on the right and the hilly landscape on the left — surrounded by flowering meadows and beautiful views of the sea.
After Fornæs Lighthouse, the walk continues over a flat meadow. As you approach Sangstrup Klint, follow the road to the left, where you come to an asphalt road. Here you follow the signage leading to Karlby Klint. At Sangstrup Klint it is possible to depart from Djurslandsstien and follow the tractor tracks on top of the cliff, from where there is a nice view of the coast.
From Karlby Klint follows a smaller, slightly difficult piece with stones, after which the rest of the trip to Gjerrild is easy and comfortable. You arrive at Bygaden 16 in Gjerrild, where the inn is located on the left approximately in the middle of the main street.
The luggage will be taken to Gjerrild Kro, where it will be ready for you.
DAY 3: GERRILD - BEANSUP
From Gjerrild Kro we hike to Bønnerup. Your luggage is ready for you at restaurant Kajkanten, Ny Havnevej 23, 8585 Glesborg. A walk of about 12 km. At Kajkanten there is an opportunity to have a good lunch before the trip home.
From Gjerrild Kro go along the main street to the left towards Gjerrild Camping. Follow the asphalt road all the way to Gjerrild Strand. There is a bike path and a walking path from when you arrive at the edge of the forest and the rest of the way to the beach. Mostly close to the beach, you wander surrounded by a beautiful old mixed forest. When you reach the coast follow the marked path to the left towards Bønnerup.
